OPEN CALL! HOLIDAY HIJINKS: SUITCASES AND SLEIGHBELLS

We’re heading “over the river and through the woods” for this year’s Holiday Hijinks anthology!
For HOLIDAY HIJINKS: SUITCASES AND SLEIGHBELLS, I’m looking for lighthearted stories about the whimsical and sometimes unexpected journeys we take to spend the holidays with our biological or found family members. These should be real world-ish stories – though magical elements are always welcome (and even encouraged).

Delighted to announce that we’ll be releasing not one but two new urban fantasy anthologies this summer!

Street Magic 3 and Street Magic 4 will bring you thirty wonderful stories (15 per volume) and perhaps open your eyes to the magic that surrounds us every day!

Both titles will launch in late summer, 2026. Watch this space for more details.

Cooking Up Death – now fresh out of the oven!

In COOKING UP DEATH, we’ve whipped up a lethally delicious menu of sixteen cozy mysteries featuring toxic treats and lethal luncheons sure to leave the other characters worrying about the contents of their own plates while the amateur sleuths search for clues.

As a special bonus, each story is accompanied by one of the recipes featured in these pages – the non-lethal version, of course!

It’s time for Christmas in July!

It’s getting hot out, so we’re helping you cool off with TWO Holiday anthology calls!

A Dark and Stormy Holiday
As you can probably tell from the title, this anthology is all about the mood.
Think Rebecca set in the deep midwinter. Or anything filmed by Alfred Hitchcock that you can tie to a winter holiday.

Submission Deadline: July 31, 2025
Anticipated release: November, 2025
Pay: Royalty-Share, via PayPal

Holiday Hijinks: Toy Trucks and Teddy Bears
If we look beyond the ribbons and wrapping paper, it’s plain to see that the holiday magic isn’t just for people! For this year’s Holiday Hijinks volume, I’m looking for lighthearted stories focused on the beloved children’s toys that make the season bright.
Length: 4000 – 6000 words
Submission Deadline: August 31, 2025
Anticipated release: Late November, 2025

OPEN CALL: Cooking Up Death

UPDATE: This call is now closed, and the anthology is live! Check out the Cooking Up Death page for details.

From the seemingly innocent humor of Arsenic and Old Lace
to the casual phrase, “death by chocolate,”
culinary cozies featuring toxic treats and lethal luncheons
fill the shelves of your local bookshop.

With this in mind, we thought it might be fun to “cook up” some chaos of our own!

For writing guidelines and submission information, see the call.

Happy Holiday Hijinks - open call

Ghosts come in all shapes and sizes, from wispy, rarely visible ethereal shades to nearly-there beings capable of moving objects, and even those that don’t realize they’re no longer breathing. But whether they’re sticking around for one more chance to catch St. Nick, or simply must oversee the holiday preparations their way, their spectral presence can certainly liven up our holidays!

Happy Holiday Hauntings: a Holiday Hijinks anthology. Release planned for Nov. 29, 2024
