No Plan for Chaos

We enjoyed getting to know the slightly off-kilter world in Just Another Day in Suburbia so much, that we begged author Elizabeth Ann Pierce to tell more stories in this world. We’re delighted to announce that her latest, No Plan for Chaos, takes us back to the day the Goblins arrived in the real world… with chaotic results!

A little literary fiction

Camden Park author Lauryn Christopher has given us a story with a bit of a literary flair this month – a new twist on a historical situation.

The Last Sigh of the Moor - a short story by Lauryn ChristopherThe Last Sigh of the Moor

a short story by Lauryn Christopher

There is a place, outside the walls of Granada, and in the shadow of the mighty Alhambra, where history tells us the city’s last caliph turned and wept at the sight of his beautiful, lost city… and, perhaps, at the loss of the friend who betrayed her.

Gearing up for Spring Break

We snuck author Elizabeth Ann Pierce‘s new short story, Eternally Grounded, in on you during Read An E-Book Week — and it was well-received! — without giving it a proper introduction.

So here, without any further ado, we’d like to introduce the newest author at Camden Park Press, together with her first offering…

Two Authors – Two Novelettes

What’s a “novelette”? you ask. In the fiction world, a “novelette” is a story that is between 7,500 and 20,000 words in length (that’s about 30 – 80 manuscript pages, but could be shorter or longer in printed form, depending on the variables of formatting text).

With that in mind, we at Camden Park Press are pleased to present two very different novelettes by two of our authors. First up, a crime story by author Lauryn Christopher, followed by a political/romantic/science fiction story by author Leigh Saunders. Read on for the details…

With Friends Like These, a novelette by Lauryn ChristopherWith Friends Like These

How well do we really know our friends? Their secret lives? Their hidden pain? Liz, Deb, Mikki, Anna, and Meg believe they know everything about each other — but one of them carries too many secrets — secrets that tear at her heart and eat at her friendships. Secrets she will kill to protect.

We Are Not Alone!

We thought we’d start 2011 off right by recognizing that the past couple of years have been hard for all of us — and, as author Leigh Saunders points out in her newest short story, Hard Times, even our alien friends haven’t gotten away completely unscathed!

So here’s to a new year, and all the wonderful opportunities for change it has to offer. Hopefully, like the characters in Hard Times, you’ll find a little fun and a little romance in the coming year!

Hard Times - a short story by Leigh SaundersHard Times

On a distant world…

Here at Camden Park Press we’re working hard to prepare science fiction author Leigh Saunders’ first novel, Synth for release. Set in a semi-distant future, where Earth is just one in a society of a Hundred Worlds, we think it’s a book you’ll be as excited to read as we are to get it to you.

In anticipation of Synth, Leigh has graciously provided us with a short story set in this same future, introducing the primary character, Brianna Rei.

In the Pale Light of Firstdawn, a short story by Leigh SaundersIn the Pale Light of Firstdawn

For the genetically engineered Synth, “living” means always staying one step ahead of the bounty hunters. And when Brianna Rei, in hiding on the planet Kita as the thief “Misha Kif,” returns home to discover an unexpected visitor, she knows it’s time to disappear again into the relative safety of the Hundred Worlds. But will the final demands of friendship cost her more than she is willing to pay?
